OHIP Covers Annual Pediatric Eye Exam

Children ages 0-19 may receive one pediatric comprehensive eye exam per year through OHIP.  Do take advantage of this benefit! The Ontario College of Optometrists’ pediatric eye exam guidelines recommend that children have their first eye exam at 6 to 9 months of age. Early eye care is important — some eye issues, if left untreated, can cause lifelong vision difficulties. Finding a problem early through a pediatric eye test can keep a minor issue from becoming a bigger, harder-to-treat problem.

Dr. Chiu is happy to serve as your local infant optometrist, as well as an eye care provider for toddlers, teenagers and beyond. We can usually get you in within two weeks of your request. We look forward to seeing you and your child soon!

Homework
Eye See Eye Learn

It’s important to have good vision early in life, especially when entering school through a kindergarten program. That’s why Dr. Chiu is a participating eye doctor in Eye See Eye Learn! Under this program, children who are in JK or SK programs in Ontario can receive a pair of children’s complimentary glasses.

To maximize your child’s chances of academic success, having good eye sight is crucial. Click below to see more about Eye See Eye Learn and our children’s complimentary glasses program.

Myopia Control

Myopia (also known as nearsightedness or short-sightedness) is a condition where close-up objects appear clearly, but faraway objects are blurry. It happens when your eyeball grows too long or if there are issues with the shape of your cornea.

It is a common condition in children but there are ways to slow the progress.  At Lake Views Eye Care, we are happy to provide children’s eye exams and personalized recommendations for children’s myopia control.

We know you have a busy schedule, so we offer flexible appointment times for a pediatric eye exam, and can usually see you within two weeks of your request.
